Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced on Wednesday that a fire aboard a regasification vessel and a storage vessel at Damietta Port had been brought under control, saying emergency response teams acted immediately in line with approved emergency response plans.
Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi traveled to the scene to oversee firefighting and site-securing operations, ensure the implementation of all safety measures, and monitor coordination among the relevant authorities.
The ministry confirmed that the incident resulted in no injuries or fatalities, while technical teams continue to carry out the necessary procedures to assess its implications.
The ministry also urged media outlets and social media users to rely on its official statements for accurate information, affirming that it is closely monitoring the situation and will announce any further developments as they arise.
