"H.E. Mr. Nawaf Salam, new Member of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) elected by the General Assembly and the Security Council of the United Nations on 9 November 2017, will be officially sworn in at a public sitting to be held on Tuesday 6 February 2018 at 10 a.m. in the Great Hall of Justice at the Peace Palace, The Hague, where the Court has its seat. Mr. Salam, of Lebanese nationality, will make before the Court the solemn declaration provided for in Article 20 of the Statute. Article 20 stipulates that “every Member of the Court shall, before taking up his duties, make a solemn declaration in open court that he will exercise his powers impartially and conscientiously”. Nawaf Salam, nouveau membre de la Cour internationale de Justice (CIJ), élu par l’Assemblée générale et le Conseil de sécurité de l’Organisation des Nations Unies le 17 novembre 2017, sera officiellement installé au cours d’une séance publique qui se tiendra le mardi 6 février 2018 à 10 heures dans la grande salle de justice, au Palais de la Paix, à La Haye, où la Cour a son siège. M. Salam, de nationalité libanaise, prononcera, devant la Cour, la déclaration solennelle prévue à l’article 20 de son Statut. En vertu de cet article, «tout membre de la Cour doit, avant d’entrer en fonction, en séance publique, prendre l’engagement solennel d’exercer ses attributions en pleine impartialité et en toute conscience». انتخب أعضاء محكمة العدل الدولية، القاضي اللبناني نواف سلام رئيسا للمحكمة، لفترة ثلاثة أعوام.

ونشر الحساب الرسمي لمحكمة العدل الدولية على منصة إكس، بيانا جاء فيه أن زملاء سلام الأعضاء في المحكمة انتخبوه رئيسا.

ونشر نواف سلام، على حسابه في موقع إكس، تغريدة في هذا الخصوص قال فيها: “انتخابي رئيسا لمحكمة العدل الدولية مسؤولية كبرى في تحقيق العدالة الدولية وإعلاء القانون الدولي. وأول ما يحضر إلى ذهني أيضاً في هذه اللحظة هو همي الدائم أن تعود مدينتي بيروت، أماً للشرائع كما هو لقبها، وأن ننجح كلبنانيين في إقامة دولة القانون في بلادنا وأن يسود العدل بين أبنائه”.
