The Dutch Ambassador to Cairo, Peter Mollema, emphasized on Tuesday that the global energy transition represents a “strategic path” driven by shared geopolitical and economic interests.
His remarks came during a meeting with Waleid Gamal El-Dein, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE).
The meeting, held in the New Administrative Capital, reflected a growing Dutch interest in Egypt’s investment opportunities, particularly in the fields of renewable energy and green hydrogen.
In this context, Gamal El-Dein outlined the Authority’s vision for expanding green energy projects, highlighting the “Egypt Green Hydrogen” project, which is preparing to export its first shipment of green ammonia to Germany by late 2027.
The discussions indicate that both nations, which enjoy strong historical trade ties, are looking to broaden the frameworks of cooperation to include diverse industrial, logistical, and technical fields.
This expansion aims to enhance economic sustainability for both sides and reaffirms the feasibility of projects within the clean energy sector.
