Cairo – Dalia Attia
Egypt’s Ministry of State for Information announced that it has taken diplomatic and legal measures following an article attributed to a Kuwaiti journalist that, according to the statement, contained offensive remarks against Egypt and its people, stressing its rejection of what it described as “professional and ethical violations” that do not reflect the nature of relations between Cairo and Kuwait.
The ministry said coordination took place with Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which in turn engaged with the Kuwaiti side, where the matter has been referred to Kuwait’s Public Prosecutor to take the necessary legal action
At the same time, Cairo emphasized that the incident does not represent the Kuwaiti people, praising the stance of Kuwaiti media figures and intellectuals who condemned the remarks, and reaffirming the deep-rooted historical ties between the two countries
It also announced that relevant Arab media and professional bodies have been notified to take appropriate action in line with journalistic codes of ethics, calling for restraint and warning against attempts to incite discord, particularly amid ongoing regional challenges
